1. You must have seen a garden lizard around your home. Next time whenever you see it, observe carefully and find out what it takes for food. Is the food different from that of a house lizard?

Answer:

The food of a garden lizard is different from that of the house lizard. Garden lizard eats small animals like rat, birds and insects, while a house lizard eats insects and spiders commonly found in the home.

 

2. Make a list (with pictures, when possible) of food items generally taken by people of different regions of India. Place these on a large outline map of India to display in the classroom.

4. Length of the moong sprout with days.

Answer: Within a day moong sprout in the summer season. It grows fast, and length varies from day to day.

After one day we see the white outgrowth. It is the future root of the plant.

Its length is as follows:

• 1st day: No growth
• 2nd day: visible only
• 3rd day: around 0.5 cm.
• 4th day: 1.5 cm.
• 5th day: 2 cm and small secondary roots appear on the primary root.
• 6th day: 2.5 cm and a small secondary root also grows.
• 7th day: 3cm, seed splits and future shoot appear.
• 8th day onwards: If the seed is planted in the soil it grows fast and develops into a plant in 2 to 3 days.
