There is a different and alternate ending of “A Friendly Mongoose” as well. In this scenario, the woman just scolds the mongoose and goes to the child. There she sees the whole scene of the blood bath of the snake and understands what could have happened. She takes her child in her hand and comes to the mongoose. Mongoose was sitting with an innocent and sad face. The lady reaches mongoose and loves him.
Since then, her behaviour towards the mongoose changes and all four live happily together.
