Activity 10.5 NCERT Class 10 Science, Light Reflection and Refraction

Activity 10.5 NCERT Class 10 Science, Light Reflection and Refraction

Brief procedure:

Activity 10.5 asks us to observe an object in front of a convex mirror.

Observation:

The object looks erect and diminished.

Explanation:

A convex mirror diverges the rays. When we put an object in front of it, the rays from object diverge. When these rays come to our eyes we feel that object is erect and diminished. Here the image is formed beyond the mirror so the image is virtual.

Image formation in front of a convex mirror.

Diversion of ray decreases, as we move the object away from the mirror. After some distance diversion of ray become constant and focuses on the focal point of the mirror.  Here, the object forms a virtual, highly diminished, like a  point image.
